Performance Evidence

Evidence is required to be collected that demonstrates a candidate’s competency in this unit. Evidence must be relevant to the roles within this sector’s work operations and satisfy all of the requirements of the performance criteria of this unit and include evidence that the candidate:

locates and applies relevant, documentation, policies and procedures

implements the requirements, procedures and techniques for the safe, effective and efficient maintenance of underground stockpiles including:

using driving and dumping techniques

using lifting and pushing techniques

using appropriate stockpiling techniques

using approved dust suppression and extraction methods

works effectively with others to undertake and complete the maintenance of underground stockpiles that meets all of the required outcomes including:

communicating clearly and concisely with others to receive and clarify work instructions, and convey work progress

demonstrates completion of the maintenance of underground stockpiles that safely, effectively and efficiently meets all of the required outcomes on more than one (1) occasion including:

completing equipment start-up, parking and shut-down procedures

assessing stockpile site ground support and accessibility

placing stockpile materials in correct location to prevent mixing of materials

driving and operating equipment to manufacturer’s instructions

identifying and applying appropriate stockpiling techniques to maximise the capacity of the stockpiling site

identifying and removing contaminants


Knowledge Evidence

The candidate must demonstrate knowledge in maintaining underground stockpiles through:

equipment processes, technical capability and limitations

accessing, interpreting and applying equipment safety requirements

accessing, interpreting and applying geological and technical data (basic)

complying with mining regulations

identifying principles of contamination

accessing, interpreting and applying stockpiling characteristics and limitations

being prepared for events for fire/accident/emergency
